Originally from England, Arabella’s journey to become an educator and advocate for maternal and infant health, started after the birth of her first child in 2002. A fascination with the process of childbirth combined with an already strong interest in nutrition drove Arabella to switch careers from a successful media consultant to pursue midwifery. In 2006 Arabella moved to Los Angeles with her husband and two children and realized how different the birth experience is in the USA. Coming from a country that supports the midwifery model to a country that has a medicalized practice was an eye opener! With nearly one-third of babies being delivered via cesarean birth, Arabella changed her career focus to birth education, labor support, promotion and protection of breastfeeding and support of new families.
A passionate advocate for maternal and infant health, Arabella believes all women have the ability and right to achieve a healthy birth outcome. Arabella’s aim is to educate and inform all women and their partners regarding a healthy pregnancy, birth and early parenting. Using her prior experience as a media trainer, educator and public relations consultant, Arabella ensures her classes are lively, up-to-the minute and fun! Arabella has a particular interest in ‘fetal malpositioning’ and believes it is important for women and their partners to understand the ‘full picture’ of labor and birth. Arabella is committed to providing women and partners with knowledge, combined with birth strategies to achieve a successful, wonderful and “normal” birth outcome.
Arabella is a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE), Lamaze Educator Instructor and trained through DONA as a Postpartum Doula. She completed her clinical hours and academic study for Lactation Consulting through UC San Diego, and holds the credential IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). As an IBCLC she has achieved the highest standard of specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding and human lactation.
